CENSORED

For TRUTH, ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION, and SOME LANGUAGE

"CENSORED"
 By Annemarie Weed
 2018

This is a story about an imaginary friend living in an Orwellian world gone mad. A screenplay writer discovers her script is changing reality as she makes problems for the Truth’s Decryption Department. George Washington Hayduke, a Truth employee, fights for his mind through dreams and transversing realities while deciphering a comic book about a drunk seagull. The entire time he is evading the insane Department of Thought he hears voices of those plotting against him. Finally he finds sanity in a secret library where he meets the person who sabotaged the decryption department, and has been sending George messages.

Simultaneously this is an experimental film, one which I have always fantasized about creating. This is a movie about writing a movie. As a documentary about commenting on the scariest dystopian novels which have turned into reality, this story tests all learned conventions of standard film.

A delightful perspective unravels in each scene with a unique compendium of comedy which was inspired by some of the greatest sci-fi novels of the last century. This is an ode to freedom and to those who have inspired it through literature.

INT. DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH - BREAKROOM 12 - DAY

GEORGE WASHINGTON HAYDUKE

What's all this loud noise? SHUT UP!

Heads turn to see George is wearing the wrong thing. His cowboy hat clearly a violation.

          TRUTH EMPLOYEE

     The coffee machine isn’t working.

The fighting resumes but George elbows his way to the cabinet and grabs a mug out of the cupboard. Mug art depicts Nurse Ratched electroshocking a fake smiling Jack Nicholson with big words, "I LOVE MY JOB!" He places it under a faucet and presses, "Brew Cup."

          COFFEE MACHINE

(Its robot voice is staticy but intelligible)

     C@$k Suc*@r!

(It yells as it refuses to work)

     Piece of Sh%! Pansy A*$!
