Along the Puna coast on the Big Island the ocean crashes against tall cliffs. The sea floor depth changes from depths of 50 feet to a thousand feet quickly. Whales get so close one can see their tales and underbelly grooves. There are also tons of big tropical fish to catch, and one can see many fishing poles lining the cliffs. Yesterday I was watching the ground crumble into the ocean as large wave sets smashed against lava rock. The wave motion carves cave like dens under the ground where birds live. You can see them in this video but they are very quick! They are the smallest terns in the world: the blue noddi Procelsterna cerulean.
